Vincent Price
Vincent Price Jr. was an actor, famous for the horror film genre. He was born in St. Louis in 1911, his father the president of the National Candy Company.
Price lived at 6320 Forsyth Boulevard, which still stands today just south of Washington University. A Washington University Dean lives there now.
Price attended the St. Louis Country Day School. The school moved to Ladue in 1957. The original location is beneath the eastern end of the main runways at Lambert Airport. The School then merged to become Mary Institute and St. Louis Country Day School (MICDS). A black-box theater at MICDS is named after him.
At The Muny, Price performed as Martin Gunther in the St. Louis premiere of “The American Way” in June, 1940.
Price has a star on the St. Louis Walk of Fame in the Delmar Loop.
The old National Candy Company building, where his father was president, still stands at 4230 Gravois Ave. as a U-Haul business.
